Holland America Line’s ms Oosterdam joins ms Volendam for her inaugural season in the Australia, New Zealand and South Pacific region on Wednesday 24 October

Sydney, Australia, Oct 24, 2012 - ms Oosterdam’s arrival into Sydney Harbour also marks the first time one of Holland America Line’s Vista-class ships is based down-under for the entire southern cruising season.

Holland America Line’s ms Oosterdam offers a greater number of private verandah staterooms, a hydrotherapy pool located in the Greenhouse Spa as well as the Pinnacle Bar and more. As on all Holland America Line ships, guests will enjoy exceptional dining and enriching onboard experiences such as culinary demonstrations in the Culinary Arts Center and Digital Workshops powered by Microsoft Windows.

Tony Archbold, Holland America Line’s Sydney-based Director of Sales is looking forward to welcoming msOosterdam. “The arrival of Oosterdam means a 25 percent increase in capacity compared to previous seasons and a wider range of itineraries for our guests to enjoy,” he said. “It’s also the first time we’ve had two ships sailing in the region simultaneously.”

2012-2013 departure highlights

The 2012-13 season offers premium cruising for incredible value. Guests can choose from 10-28 day voyages onboard ms Oosterdam. 

The 14-day Solar Eclipse cruise departs Sydney on 7 November and sails up the east coast of Australia towards the Great Barrier Reef, before crossing the Coral Sea to New Caledonia and Noumea, before returning to Sydney.

When the total solar eclipse occurs on 14 November in the Cairns region, one of the best places in the world to view it will be from the deck of the Oosterdam. Passengers will gather on deck for music, dancing and a narration of the event as it unfolds.

Embarking Sydney 26 January 2013, ms Oosterdam will venture to the idyllic and culturally rich South Pacific islands for an 11-day cruise round trip Sydney. Guests will enjoy six full days of exploration in Fiji, Vanuatu and New Caledonia.

11-day Pacific Treasures start at $1,099 AUD per person, based on double occupancy.

For guests seeking to explore the hidden gems that lie throughout the land of the long white cloud, the 14-day New Zealand Discovery may just be the ticket. Departing 12 January 2013 msOosterdam will make its way to Hobart before venturing across the Pacific to the South and then North Islands of New Zealand.

This port intensive voyage includes eight days exploring a wide variety of ports including the picturesque town of Akaroa in Christchurch and the rugged coastal town of Waitangi. There will be no shortage of spectacular scenery and exciting shore excursions for guests to partake in.
