P&O Cruises Searches for Young Explorer to Advise on Latest Ship

In an Australian first, P&O Cruises is calling for one adventure-loving holiday critic to advise on the final touches to Pacific Explorer, the cruise line’s latest ship which arrives in Sydney in June. But only applicants aged 15 years or under need apply.

An adventure critic will join three other Young Explorers already recruited by P&O to provide input on the activities, food, entertainment and design of the 77,000-tonne ship which will sail on its first cruise from Sydney on June 22, 2017.

P&O Cruises Director of Entertainment Brett Annable is inviting families to nominate an adventurous child who has bundles of energy and is willing to give anything a go, from walking the plank to zipping down the longest and wildest waterslides on an Australian ship.

“Our four Young Explorers will be involved in shaping the culinary offering, entertainment and design   onboard our latest addition.  Their opinions and advice will refine the details of Pacific Explorer to help ensure it is the best cruise ship for this market – and maybe bring out the inner kid in all of us too,” Mr Annable said.

Specifically, the group will inform the final exciting touches to Pacific Explorer’s waterpark, taste test key dishes on the menu, critique live entertainment and select décor to reflect the fleet’s signature modern Australian design.

P&O Cruises will take holidaymakers on a voyage of discovery on Pacific Explorer with exciting new features including two spectacular waterslides, a waterpark and a relaxed barefoot lawn bowls green.

Maintaining the cruise line’s reputation for innovation, Pacific Explorer will be packed with surprises, including the most extensive range of dining options, delivered in a stylish, contemporary setting.

“Our goal with the refurbishment and launch of Pacific Explorer is to create 77,000 tonnes of holiday-making magic. There is no better judge of the onboard experience than our past and future guests,” Mr Annable said.

“Over the years, we have seen our youngest passengers become our most discerning. Their passion for food, entertainment, adventure and even design is often way beyond their years. We know that children are frequently the ones who get parents involved in onboard activities, so we couldn’t think of a better way to ensure Pacific Explorer provides a great family holiday than appointing a panel of young explorers.”

Families that know of a potential candidate  to join the line-up of Young Explorers can submit a photo and 100 words or less on www.pocruises.com.au/young-explorers explaining why their child would be the perfect holiday critic. The lucky winner will help P&O finesse Pacific Explorer’s details, feature in a P&O campaign and will enjoy a cruise with their family onboard the ship as a thank you from the cruise line.
