Aussies desire the key to new Carnival Legend upgrades

Legend to gain the best international features from world's largest cruise line

Carnival Cruise Lines today unveileddetails of Carnival Legend’s planned dry dock upgrades which she will receive before her Australian debut, sailing out of Sydney in September 2014. The details come as Carnival Legend itineraries officially open for sale across the country.

Carnival Cruise Lines, the world’s largest cruise line, has hand-picked the most popular features from its 24-strong fleet for Carnival Legend. The features were selected, and will be tailored, based on insights into Aussie cruisers garnered since sister ship Carnival Spirit set sail from Sydney in October 2012.

Highlights of the upgrade include a southern hemisphere first – Carnival Cruise Lines’ own RedFrog Pub. Knowing the pub is a cornerstone of Aussie culture, this laid-back yet lively space will be a popular spot, complete with foosball and live music; pre-requisites for any great pub.

Responding to Australians’ love of the outdoors and adventure, Carnival Legend will receive the popular Green Thunder waterslide, which has become synonymous with Carnival Cruise Lines after famously gracing Carnival Spirit’s top deck in 2012.  Designed and built specifically for Australians, Green Thunder is the steepest and fastest waterslide at sea, set inside Carnival Waterworks, a splash zone also featuring a giant tipping bucket and racing slides.

With quality Japanese cuisine being so popular throughout Australia, Carnival Legend will ensure guests don’t suffer from wasabi withdrawals with the addition of Bonsai Sushi, a Japanese-inspired sanctuary featuring new and classic favourites including traditional sushi, sake and sashimi.

For the sweet-tooths, Cherry on Top is a well-stocked ‘candy-and-more-store’ where guests can indulge on confectionary favourites and collect tasty take-home souvenirs.

Carnival Cruise Lines Director for Australia and New Zealand, Jennifer Vandekreeke, is confident the upgrades to Carnival Legend will be well-received by Australian couples and families.

“We know that Carnival Cruise Lines is a great fit for fun-loving Aussies who are keen to try new and exciting holiday experiences. The deployment of a second ship, Carnival Legend is testament to this perfect match, and we’re certain Australian cruisers will take to her in the same way they’ve embraced Carnival Spirit. The upgrades she'll receive are some of the all-time favourite features from across our fleet of ships; Aussies will love them.” she added.

Like her sister ship Carnival Spirit, Carnival Legend will offer guests the same wide open spaces, child-free Serenity retreat, 16 bars and lounges and upgraded fitness centre. Carnival Legend will receive some of the most popular Carnival Spirit ‘Aussifications’ including no tipping, Australian power points, new menu offerings and an upgrade to the onboard coffee to ensure a perfectly brewed blend.

Australians can visit their local travel agent from today for Carnival Legend bookings, or can book via the website: www.carnival.com.au, or by calling 13 31 94.
