P&O Cruises World Cruising Launches New Med Cruises

P&O Cruises World Cruising is inviting Australian travellers to indulge their love affair with Europe, unveiling new Mediterranean cruises from Venice on its elegant cruise ship Ventura.

The cruise line has announced that it will base a ship in the Mediterranean over summer for the first time next year, with Ventura scheduled to operate a program of seven and 14-night cruises to stunning ports throughout the region from late March to October.

Fares start from $1749* per person twin share for a 14-night cruise exploring the coastline of Italy, Greece and Croatia.  Cruising roundtrip from Venice, Ventura will sail to Rome, Corsica, Naples and Savona for Florence and Pisa while also visiting Kotor in Montenegro, Corfu in Greece and Dubrovnik in Croatia.

The new Med offering is a highlight of the cruise line’s 2014 Europe program which goes on sale on April 8, 2013.

P&O Cruises World Cruising Managing Director Carol Marlow said Ventura’s Mediterranean itinerary was expected to be particularly popular with Australians, who are taking more cruise holidays in Europe than ever before.  The latest official Australian cruise passenger figures show that the number of Australians enjoying an ocean cruise holiday in Europe in 2011 rose 30 per cent to almost 46,000 compared to the previous year.

“Ventura’s itinerary is packed with great destinations and we think it will be a winner amongst Australian travellers wanting to explore some of the Med’s true gems,” Ms Marlow said.

Ms Marlow said Ventura passengers would be able to take advantage of the ship’s new features following a recent refurbishment including The Retreat outdoor spa, The Glass House by Olly Smith wine bar and restaurant and a new ‘East’ Thai/Indonesian select dining restaurant by Atul Kochhar.  The 116,000-tonne ship also features four swimming pools and a Marco Pierre White restaurant.

Other features of the new P&O Cruising World Cruising Europe program include:

  • More discovery cruises on the boutique 710-passenger Adonia, with options including sailing up the Guadalquivir River into the heart of Seville, a cruise on the River Garonne into Bordeaux and a Christmas Markets cruise including visits to Hamburg and Copenhagen’s famous markets.
  • Two cruises on Oriana to witness the spectacular Northern Lights
  • An Around Britain cruise on Adonia
