P&O Cruises World Cruising has announced a stellar line-up of Britain’s top celebrity chefs for the cruise line’s first-ever onboard cookery school, The Cookery Club, on its newest liner Britannia.
Scheduled to sail on its maiden voyage in March 2015, Britannia was officially floated from the shipyard on February 14 following a range of maritime ceremonies that began with the welding of significant coins on her open deck for good luck and proceeded to the blessing of the ship by her ‘Madrina’.
As Britain’s biggest cruise ship, Britannia’s 2015 debut will mark a change to holidays at sea.
Passengers will enjoy a feast of new food and entertainment-themed activities, with P&O Cruises World Cruising’s culinary giants Marco Pierre White, Atul Kochhar and Olly Smith lending their expertise to a wide range of culinary options. These include specialty restaurants, wine bars and gala dinners, as well as leading passengers in hands-on cookery tuition at The Cookery Club.
Britain’s favourite TV chef, James Martin has been charged with coordinating the celebrity line-up for the state-of-the-art cookery school, which will feature Britain’s finest guest chefs and cater for up to 24 people at a time.
In all, Britannia will offer 13 different bars, 13 eateries including a three tier atrium with award-winning master patissier ‘Cake Boy’ Eric Lanlard patisserie, a charcuterie and gelataria as well as the spectacular ‘Star Burst’ sculpture.
Also on the menu are Sindhu from Atul Kochhar, Olly Smith’s The Glass House and Eric Lanlard’s champagne afternoon tea, while a chef’s table will allow passengers to experience world class cuisine in an intimate space. There will also be supper club style entertainment and dining in The Limelight Club, dancing in the Crystal Room, relaxing in the Oasis Spa and in four swimming pools including a Serenity “quiet zone” pool and bar.
