Carnival Spirit’s Serenity slows it down a notch or three

Australians are in for a treat with the arrival of Carnival Spirit, a new holiday destination sailing year-round from Sydney to the Pacific Islands and New Zealand from 20 October 2012. Guests can now experience a world of comfy hammocks, cocktails, heated spas, chilled tunes and tranquillity with 270 degree views of the great blue. Sounds good, huh? It’s what Carnival Cruise Lines calls Serenity™.

Serenity is a huge, child-free, open-air retreat on the newest and largest cruise ship to call Australia home. The addition of Serenity to Carnival Spirit was part of the $AUD7 million worth of upgrades recently made to the ship to ensure she was just right for the Australian market.

Jennifer Vandekreeke, Mum of two and Director of Carnival Cruise Lines Australia & New Zealand said, “Before heading down-under for the first time, we undertook research with Aussies to find out their holiday preferences and discovered that Australians love to have options – from Zen to adrenalin and every speed in between.”

“Serenity is 100% Zen – a tranquil haven for adults holidaying without kids, or for parents making full use of Carnival’s award-winning youth programs. Spanning the entire aft of the ship, Serenity is my favourite place to unwind. Give me Serenity’s cool Café del Mar-style tunes, a mojito and my favourite novel.....ahhh bliss!”

If chilling is what the doctor ordered this holiday, then lie back and dream in Carnival Spirit’s Day Spa, where guests will be pampered with a range of specialist treatments and therapies, such as hot stone massages, aromatherapy and thermal body wraps.

For a little bit of holiday heaven, guests can choose to stay in one of Carnival Spirit’s balcony cabins and wake up every morning to their own private view of the ocean, enjoying a room service breakfast while gazing out to sea. And there’s plenty to go around as 60% of Carnival Spirit’s staterooms feature a private balcony.

On a Carnival Spirit holiday, guests set their own speed; from super slow-motion to speedy, and back again. There are more than 40 activities available each day, and a range of shore excursions on offer in each of Spirit’s beautiful destinations visited, meaning there’s always something to see, do, taste and try.
