Phian’oh Launches Destination Campaign

Travel agents around Australia have been reaching for their world maps following news of the launch of Phian’oh – an exciting new holiday destination.

Ambassadors from the idyllic escape embarked on a roadshow last week, dropping into agencies around Sydney, Brisbane and Auckland to introduce agents to the delights of a Phian’oh holiday.

Armed with brochures and a letter of introduction from Phian’oh Tourism Minister Putmi Phetup, the ambassadors unveiled the key features of the destination and highlighted its new website www.phianoh.com

Offering beautiful beaches, great cuisine, and activities and experiences for travellers of all ages, Phian’oh (pronounced Fee-an-oh) promises to quickly become the word on all agents’ lips.

So much so, that when agents say it out loud they may notice a striking resemblance to another popular travel product….

P&O Cruises Senior Vice President Tammy Marshall said the Phian’oh trade campaign was a natural extension of the cruise line’s current consumer campaign “A place called P&O”.

“By ‘creating’ Phian’oh, we’re aiming to highlight to travel agents that there’s much more to cruising than a holiday on a ship.  Our cruises offer everything from great island destinations to wonderful dining options and huge array of activities,” Ms Marshall said.

“Whether they are called Phian’oh or P&O, our ships are a destination in themselves.”

According to itravel Corporate Account Manager Sue Milosova, the Phian’oh ambassadors were very convincing.

“When they first walked into our office and started talking, we were all wondering where on earth Phian’oh was.  It never occurred to anyone in the office that it was a prank, until we had a look at their website and then we were like OMG!” Ms Milosova said.

“It was a very clever way to highlight the product.  We started looking at P&O Cruises in a different light – you might think it’s accommodation on a ship but it’s not, it’s so much more.”

Ms Marshall said agents who visit the Phian’oh website would be able to go in the draw to win a cruise.
