P&O Cruises Prepares to Double Up Next Australia Day

Australia’s leading cruise line P&O Cruises will double the fun on Australia Day next year with two of its ships sailing into Sydney Harbour to spend the national day together for the first time.

The move follows the success of this year’s Australia Day celebrations, where Pacific Pearl wore giant flags and two massive 100m long banners with the nation’s world famous sporting catchcry: “Aussie, Aussie, Aussie…”.

To celebrate the national day, passengers across the three P&O Cruises’ ships were offered free ice cream from the onboard New Zealand Natural Ice Cream parlours, Pacific Pearl used its whistle to start the Tall Ships Parade and the superliner’s passengers helped judge the best dressed vessel on the harbour.

As the official sponsor of the Australia Day Sydney Harbour program in 2013 and 2014, P&O Cruises’ welcomed the headline act for the day, singer Jessica Mauboy, onboard Pacific Pearl for a special performance once the ship had moved to Barangaroo for the evening fireworks display.

Earlier in the day, the ship’s passengers had front row seats to the singer’s concert on a barge at Athol Buoy.

Fares for P&O Cruises 2014 Australia Day cruises, featuring front row seats to the national day celebrations on Sydney Harbour, start from $549* for three nights.
